Music has always played an important part in the life and worship of St John’s. The choir sings at all Sunday services as well as occasional weekday services such as Christmas and Holy Week. There is normally Choral Evensong on the first Sunday of the month.
There is a wide range of music sung from Plainsong to contemporary.
Choir practice is normally on a Friday evening at 7.30pm and we are always happy to welcome new members. We also occasionally join with other local choirs and have regularly visited cathedrals to sing during holiday times.
To support the music we are fortunate in that St John’s possesses a fine ‘Father’ Willis organ installed in 1875 and last restored in 2010. Full details of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.
If you or anyone you know is interested in singing in the choir please speak to any choir member or contact our Organist/Choirmaster, Andrew Storer, via email.
